Join our team!
Nov. 23rd come support the Trojan Basketball Programs!
The Trojans Basketball Programs are planning a day of fun for the community on November 23rd. They will host a Little Dribblers Camp from 9:00am to 12:30pm. Open to all ages/athletes interested in learning about the game. Then at 1pm Trojan Players will begin the shootathon (similar to a walkathon, where you commit to donating a certain amount per made basket), where all athletes will shoot 200 shots. Athletes are currently looking for donors, so if you are interested in supporting please reach out and we will connect you with a Trojan athlete. Then at 7pm there will be a Blue/White Scrimmage with the Women's Team playing the first half, and Men's team to finish in the 2nd half. Following the scrimmage the teams would like to invite community members to join in the competition with a 3pt contest and Knockout contest, with $5 entry.
LAES hosted a Family Bowling night last night in La Junta - looks like fun! 🤩 🎳

Athletes of the week:
Cheer:
Varsity: Senior Captain Espi Marlow- she was the veteran team leader she needed to be. She was poised and held the team together before taking the competition floor for the first time this year. Espi’s expectations and leadership style continues to impress.
Varsity: Ava LaBarge and Bella Martinez for locker room presence and leadership! Both these ladies did an amazing job calming nerves and pumping up the team with their can do attitudes.
Jr. High Wrestling:
Audali Martinez- she came to the competition with experience, expectations, and poise! She was a key component in the success of our program and we are proud to call her our jr. High captain.
Dahlia Lane: This is Dahlias first year of wrestling and she has already shown some tremendous growth. Dahlia has recently taken first place in the La Junta tournament. During the tournament, she overcame some very tough matches. Throughout the season, she has shown great heart and dedication to the sport and continues to wrestle tougher every week.
HECTOR of the Week
JH - Naomi Burquez-Naomi is an outstanding student. She focuses on whatever activity she is engaged in. She has a great attitude and is always coachable. She works very hard in class to produce the best product possible. She goes above and beyond to show Excellence in everything she does. We are very proud of how Naomi shows HECTOR in Las Animas Junior High.
HS - David Steward- He's always a joy to have in class. He tells it like it is and asks when he needs help. We can always count on David to be HONEST and we love that about him.
Staff - I am proud to nominate Elisha Garcia for Staff HECTOR of the Week. Her impact on our school is immeasurable; without her, I wonder how smoothly everything would run. Elisha consistently has a thoughtful answer and is ready for every question posed, demonstrating her deep understanding and commitment. Her unwavering dedication to the staff, students, and the entire district makes a significant difference. Elisha is a source of support for everyone, and her contributions deserve recognition.
